Welcome to Mrs. Buehler's Art Room

Image
Hello Archway Lincoln Families! My name is Mrs. Buehler. This will be my fifth year teaching art at Lincoln. I have four children of my own who I have been teaching art to since they were little: Opal (17), Walker (15), Carson (13) and Delilah (11). We have spent the summer tie-dying shirts, bleaching shirts, painting, watching lots of TV, reading, swimming, hiking, fishing and taking care of our animals. I like to refer to myself as a fake farmer. We have lots of chickens, bunnies, two dogs and a pig. I always have a ton of funny stories to share with the kids about life on our farm. I am so grateful to be sharing my love of art with your children. I am very excited to begin teaching art this school year. Although this year is going to look a little different, we are still going to have a lot of fun learning and creating in the art room. I have a lot of fun lessons planned for your scholars to do at home and in school.

Quarter 4

Dear Families,  I know that being out of school can be hard on the children and the parents. I have a few of my own that are going a little crazy with cabin fever. So I wanted to share a few free websites that can keep your children using their creativity and help them work on some art skills as well. We all Love Mo Willems and Elephant and Piggy and of course the pigeon. He is offering a lunch with Mo drawing class every week day. There are twelve museums (mostly art) offering free virtual tours. And last but not least is a website where you can download masterpieces for your children to color. If you need anymore ideas for creativity, please don't hesitate to email me. I can offer some fun drawing prompts to keep your kids art skills sharp. And I would love to see what they are working on. Thank you, Mrs. Buehler Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems https://www.kennedy-center.org/mowillems?fbclid=IwAR3Vl2TK1j4WGxuVpyFEKLgmGXLzokbtv8GQhxQlkP4vjTFM_Waz8DlL

Quarter 3

Quarter 3 tends to be the busiest time in the art room. We have so many projects going on in each class. Everyone seems to be comfortable trying new media and new projects. Most everyone is comfortable in the art room and using supplies and cleaning up. In Kindergarten we have been studying Picasso and his line animals. We have been drawing and have just started painting our Doves of Peace. We will be moving on to american symbols and we will be drawing the statue of liberty. Another fun painting project. In First Grade we have been studying Cezanne's Apples and Oranges. Turning simple shapes into everyday objects. We have been drawing a fancy bowl and adding our apples and oranges. We are painting with tempera and water color and will be finishing the project with oil pastels. We will next be talking about some of Monet's paintings and recreating a landscape using soft pastels. In Second Grade we are starting our Starry Starry Night. We are breaking it into three section
